Women need to look after their health during and after menopause. Menopause is a time of change for a woman's body and risks for certain medical conditions are increased, for example, osteoporosis. Cholesterol levels can increase after menopause and the risk of developing heart disease is also higher. For these reason, regular medical tests need to be performed.
The following medical tests should be performed:
- Breast self examinations - monthly
- Pap smear tests - every 2 years
- Mammograms - every 2 years
- Blood pressure checks
- Cholesterol checks
- Bone mineral density tests
Breast self examinations are performed by yourself. All other medical tests are performed by your doctor.
